Monument 14 is a suspenseful book with intriguing, realistic, and relatable characters. Five high school kids, two eighth graders, and six children get trapped inside in a superstore, while outside, the world is being destroyed and torn apart. Dean the protagonist, who is in high school, has to fight to keep him and everyone else alive, while dealing with his own internal problems and feelings. Monument 14 wasn't my favorite book, it had things I liked and things I didn't. I liked how the characters were realistic. There were parts of the book that were a bit bland and boring. If you are a person who likes suspenseful books about completely different people trying to survive together then I would recommend this to you. What a ride! I can only hope my children would do so well if in a similar situation. And no I don't mean a country wide disaster, just a regular disaster will do. This book is intended for a YA audience and is a fresh take on the armegeddon scenario. It takes a very realistic look at how events would unfold if things were being run by a group of teenagers. I'm looking forward to reading the next installment of this crisis

Another one that I couldn't put down! Definitely what I needed after reading the Divergent series.
