Never Say Die (2013) - Plot & Excerpts

One of the better YA books that I've read. A boy takes a river trip with his half brother whom he had never met. The brother is a wildlife photographer who wants to get caribou photos and write a piece about climate change in the arctic. Their trip is filled with problems. One of which is a grolar bear. A grizzly/polar bear hybrid believed to have resulted from the two species mingling because of climate change. That Actually Exists...I never knew. Needed to kill a couple of hours so picked up this book that has been on my shelf for several years. Don't know why I never read it because Will Hobbs is one of my favorite authors for middle school boys. As usual there is a hero of middle school age, in this case an Inuit boy. I enjoyed the adventure story and learned a good deal about how climate change and oil and gas drilling impacts native people. I have liked all the books I've read by Will Hobbs with the exception of Kokopelli's Flute.
