New World Order (2012) - Plot & Excerpts

This review is for the four book series. First, if you don't like cliffhangers, don't start this servers. Every book ends in one, usually resolved at the beginning of the next but annoying nevertheless.About teenage kids, so if you want a read about adults, bypass it.If you want sex or even a hot kiss scene, you won't be getting it in this series. It is mostly about a race of fae that discover themselves and each other while still living on earth in the world of humans, but live within their own private community on earth. Lots of different fae type races, and some interesting twists and turns. Don't expect to be happy with the love interest ending, I wasn't. Also I felt that the main character as a new member of the fae race was given entirely too much freedom for an ancient race to be able to do as she pleased without any repercussions. An easy and mostly enjoyable read if you like fantasy.I like the way Elle Casey writes and the sense of humour that she has in the speech of the characters. Will I read the next series that follows on from here? Probably only if it gets to the desired HEA ending that an was hoping for. The first three books were easy to rip through but I found my interest waning in the fourth. Following deaths and potential deaths of characters I was not as emotionally attached as I have been in other novels. This book - 3.5, but the series as a whole 4 stars. I enjoyed the series and will most likely continue it as some point in the "Clash of the Otherworlds" follow-ons. I haven't read many books invovling the world of faires at this point, but I liked these. A friend of my was reading these books at the same time I was and we often discussed the "love story" angles or lack thereof. The main character seemed to have some sort of feelings for many differnt characters throughout the books. My friend remarked how these love-storyish subplots really didn't seem to play into the main plot at all and seemed sort of odd. For me, I think it made the main female character a little more realistic than some of the other paranormal YA heroines in books I have read. Sure, young love can be and often seems very strong. However, it is not always the case. Many girls "fancy" a new boy each week. I would say that is often the norm for many girls until they meet someone who they like more than just a passing thing or develop deeper feelings for (BTW, I am not talking anything physical here, just the "oh, he's cute" type of stuff). This leads us to the fourth book of the series where the main character finally does develop deeper feelings for one of the other characters (or at least she thinks she does). And then, a "love story" angle comes out of the blue and is the crux of the book in the last 30 pages or so. I guess I had a little bit of a problem with the love story stuff just being extra and then all of a sudden it is pivotal to the plot. The reason this didn't bother me more is that I still think a lot of what happens in those last 30 or so pages is driven by a desire to protect her fae family, but some of the narration about her feelings toward a certain character (again, kind of all of a sudden) bothered me a bit. However, all that said, it probably wouldn't have bothered me very much if I didn't ready some reviews of the books in the follow-on series and realized a few things that changed my opinion on the end of book four in this series. Anyway, that is a long way of saying that I enjoyed the series, but can't say it was a favorite of mine as a whole.

Loved every part of it, can't wait for September to come for the next part of the story.

This series is full of plot twist and cliff hangers, and a good dose of comic relief.
