I enjoyed this book even more then the first. There is a a lot of action, it's faced paced and the storyline flows smoothly. The same characters that you or hate are back full force.Cicely is still very much wrapped up in the Vampires game. And offer that sounds to good to be true, is. Those that are bad, may just have a good side and those you think are on Cicely's side aren't. Intrigue abounds as does the love that Cicely and Grieve share, even though it is strained in certain parts. Luckily we still don't have a love triangle even though Cicely seems to pick up admirers at the drop of a hat.We find out much more about Cicely's father and her true mother in this book. Memories from another time come rushing back with a vengeance. Myst is still the enemy, but there are others made along the way.A new character, Luna, is introduced as is the faction of the Consortium. If this series stays on this track I can't imagine it won't soon become a favorite. The only reason this book got 4 stars instead of 5 is that there are still certain times when the wording of a passage is an issue. Other then that a great, fast, easy read. The fea, and the vamps, magic born and the weres.... And the way the political topics are laid out, it is just so believing, so this world but not. The way the demons are written in - be it internal to physical - are handled with such grace, such courage, such dignity.... Where dignity isn't an option in what ever the situation is.... It's just perfect, so human when the characters aren't. They aren't afraid to feel. To love. To care about each other. To help. To just be where ever the world blows them be it good or bad, they handle it all together, and with such grace. The author did a great job on this book. I look forward to the rest of the series where more magic, more emotion, more family/friends join the fray... But become stronger for it. Become better people for it.... War changes people, and it's changing them. But it's bringing out the true friends while weeding out the bad ones. But they are becoming a better family, better friends, better soldiers, better stronger people to get through the thick and thin. The more that happens, the stronger they become. As a whole. Quite frankly I think this is one of my better series that I've read in quite a long time.... Not matter what happens they do their best to not let it get them down. And while things get dark and twisted, the characters still keep hope alive.... That's something very few authors can do this days. That's just my opinion though.
What do You think about Night Veil (2011)?
For me it was close to 4 stars but not quite there. I do enjoy the writing very much though.
