I hated seeing that look on her face, but what’s more, I hated that I was the one that put it there. I was never going to forgive myself for breaking her heart, and in the process, my own as well. There was just something about her that had gotten inside me and burrowed down deep. I’d never be able to get that woman out of my system even if I wanted to…which I didn’t. I didn’t want us to be over. I wanted to hold her and comfort her when she needed me, but I’d been a jackass and now she wouldn’t even let me touch her. Standing inches apart from her and not being able to feel her skin against mine was like a death in itself. I had to get her back. She might have been determined when she said she was done with me but what she didn’t know was that I was just as determined. It was going to take a lot of work but I was going to get her back. I hadn’t known her for very long, but I already knew I couldn’t function without her.
