O Mundo Inteiro (2013) - Plot & Excerpts

Wow, what a beautiful book, with lovely small poems to tell the story of “us”. Taking a tour of the world, from the geography to food to travel, then weather and on to “All the World”, it’s the sweetest story of who we are. One couplet: “Spreading shadows, setting sun/Crickets, curtains, day is done.” Every illustrated page is a delight, and Marla Frazee shows the details of our lives with joy, whether in nature or in a happy family evening. -- Is abt Appreciating What U Have; 2010 ALA Notable Children's Books - Younger Readers Category; 2010 International Reading Association Children's Book Award: Primary Fiction (post-2001 winners); 2009 New York Times Best Illustrated Children's Books; 2009 Parents' Choice Awards - Picture Books; 2009 School Library Journal Best Books; A paean to the interconnectedness of the world, this simple, moving poem reveals the joy in everyday settings and activities. A beach scene is accompanied by the verse "A moat to dig, a shell to keep/ All the world is wide and deep," while a farm stand brings us "Tomato blossom, fruit so red/ All the world's a garden bed." Expansive pencil and watercolor illustrations show a multicultural cast of expressive characters playing, eating, and making music together. Emphasize the A-word "all" in your reading, then ask children what they would include in their own celebrations of "all the world." All the world is here. It is there. It is everywhere. All the world is right where you are. Now. Following a circle of family and friends through the course of a day from morning till night, this book affirms the importance of all things great and small in our world, from the tiniest shell on the beach, to warm family connections, to the widest sunset sky. Is about American Children's Poetry; and Nature;

What do You think about O Mundo Inteiro (2013)?

All the World by Liz Garton Scanlon is a Caldecott Medal Award Winner. This book shows all different parts of the world with different families. It also shows what the world has to offer and all the beauty that comes with it. This book made me think about all the different places I have been and how wonderful the world is. The major theme of this book is appreciating what this world has to offer to everyone. I would read this book to my students and have them draw different pictures of where they have been in the world or where they would like to visit.

This book definitely has some of the best illustrations I have ever seen. They are so big and beautiful that it makes the book so captivating. This book is a great poetic book that has a really sweet message inside. The stress on how everything around us means something is a really important message because we need to be more grateful for the things around us. This is a great book to teach diversity and rhymes. I really loved this book!
