A dark and disturbing thriller told through the online blog of Blue eyed boy who loves nothing more than to spin depraved tales to his followers of murder. Through his restricted web journal we are given an insight into the dysfunctional family he was raised and the abnormal relationship he now has with his mother with whom he still lives. Insightful and thought provoking as it delves into the world of social media, highlighting the pitfalls of making the assumption that you think you know the person with whom you are conversing. As his two brothers are killed in tragic accidents and others follow you wonder if B.B could be really commiting murder or is it this really the fictional blog of a deeply disturbed man. A real page turner, cleverly and creatively written to hide a truth from the reader that is hinted out throughout. I'm a fan of Joanne Harris, especially Gentlemen and Players, so her dark stories don't bother me.However, I don't know what happened to her editor with this one, because it signaled a return to the frenetic, confused narratives of her first two novels, Sleep Pale Sister and...that vampire one I can't remember the title of. The action is confused and hard to understand, the rest of the book lumpish and dull. There's no sparkle, no sly winking knife in the dark, as with G&P, there is only a tangled storyline with an unfathomable plot and disapointing ending.
What do You think about O Rapaz De Olhos Azuis (2010)?
Spent the first three quarters of this in a state of worried confusion. Worried because I wasn't entirely sure if I was meant to know who anybody really was. Thankfully it was made clear that I wasn't being a complete eejit and the characters were all playing with identity. Have given this three stars because I'm not sure I actually enjoyed the book, having spend some much of it scratching my head in bewilderment. Although, the ending is ever so good and while it explains a fair bit it still left plenty of questions to keep me thinking about it.

Joanne Harris is an excellent writer, I enjoy her writing style and have loved some of her previous books but unfortunately this wasn't one of them. This a difficult review to write as I do not want to give away spoilers so I shall have to be content with saying that rather than feeling clever and illuminating the plot twists and turns left me feeling confused and eventually cheated as though I'd wasted my time getting to know the characters in the first place. It wouldn't put me off trying Her books again though.
