Ouran High School Host Club, Volume 13 (2009) - Plot & Excerpts
I’ve been waiting for the library to get this one for a while. The cover is a very pretty one with Haruhi in an outfit that’s part Goth-Loli, part Flapper and part bellydance and I have no idea what it has to do with anything but it is pretty.Everyone is back from France and the first party’s theme is chosen by Haruhi with help from Kyoya (who seems to be enjoying stoking up the sexual tension). Mei, realizing that both Hikaru and Tamaki like Haruhi is forced not to take sides but she goes give Haruhi a girlie magazine with those find your perfect man quizzes. Of course Haruhi realizing she might be in love doesn’t help much. She reacts by throwing herself into the club activities with enthusiasm to make up for past apathy. And Hikaru finally makes a stand, taking advantage of Tamaki’s good nature and confused feelings. He tells Tamaki he doesn’t’ want him along on the class ski trip. Tamaki does stay home but Hikaru isn’t able to handle his own choices. What can he do against these feelings of guilt. This volume isn’t as funny as many of the others because the underlying drama is coming to the surface. Kyoya even puts forth a very good hypothesis for Tamaki’s inability to tell Haruhi how he feels This was well-written. This was well-drawn. BUT WHY DOES SHE HAVE TO LIKE HIM? I'm not giving anything away here, nothing you can't read on the summary anyhow. Haruhi is reading her friend's magazine, and she finds out that according to the magazine she likes this guy she knows...and she FREAKS OUT.Like really freaks out. She stays home from school and rushes to her friend's school to tell her that the magazine is crazy...but who's the one acting crazy here?Obviously, it's Haruhi.
