Pandora The Curious (2012) - Plot & Excerpts

The book "Goddess Girls - Pandora the Curious" by Joann Holub and Suzanne Williams was about a girl named Pandora who was curious and brave. She opened a box full of trouble bubbles. The bubbles scattered all over the school. Whenever a bubble hits someone, it says something. Nobody can hear it, but Pandora can. If the bubble says “rude” that person that it bumped would be rude. She captured the bubbles. The last bubble is gold and whoever it bumps will turn back to normal. She learned to never do that again.I think kids and adults would like it because it is kind of a mystery. It is not just about Pandora, it is about God boys like Apollo or Poseidon too. My dad read it and he enjoyed it.My favorite part was when she captured the bubbles because it was really exciting when she finally captured them. Usually I like the endings of books, so I loved this one. What is special about this book is that not most books are about Gods. I love those kind of books.Review by Young Mensan Sofia H., age 8 Yet another wonderful addition to the Goddess Girl series. Although the Goddess Girl series isn't completely accurate to the Greek myths I enjoy how they are true enough to Greek mythology to spark the interest of kids. However, what I really like is how the authors take a topic that is currently very popular and place the characters into situations that kids deal with today- like bullies, curiosity, crushes, etc. In this particular book Pandora opens the box that releases trouble-bubbles (ditz, anger, rude, thief, lazy, greed, vain, fear, lying, etc). Pandora then has to team up with Epimetheus in order to recapture the trouble bubbles and correct the chaos her curiosity caused. I really enjoyed this story, and how Pandora sums up what she learned about curiosity and the dangers of it in her school project.

What do You think about Pandora The Curious (2012)?

This is a fun modern spin on Greek Mythology.Pandora opens a box...sounds familiar? She is just curious...did you notice her bangs make questions marks? From the box come beautiful colored bubbles. As the bubbles "pop," the person that got "hit" gets the bubbles characteristic. The only problem is that these bubbles carry trouble-making characteristics such as being a ditz, being vain, and being greedy.Only one more bubble is left in the box...and Zeus, the principle at Mount Olympus Academy, has just announced a school-wide science fair. What will happen if the last bubble escapes? Can Pandora reverse the spell that has been cast upon her fellow students?A cute, cute read that will leave you seeking to know more about Greek Mythology.

LOVED IT! Pandora and her infamous box. This myth is a little different from the one you recall mainly because Joan Holub made it more kid friendly. It didn't take away from the original in any way and it really gave us a good look at the curious girl. In the previous books she is more like an annoying fly but in this one we really get to understand Pandora. As a side we also get to explore the myth of Prometheus and Fire. I really was interested to see how they could do his punishment without getting to far from the truth or too graphic. I really just loved how it was handled. The whole book is wonderful. I am anxious to read all about Pheme later this year.
