I really enjoyed Peaceful Pieces. Peaceful Pieces allows its readers to really think about the poems they just read. The book of poems really covers the many aspects of emotions. There are poems about peace, weapons, anger, and soldiers. These poems could really help children with relating to them with things going on in their own lives. Children are not always verbal about their feelings and I believe that these poems would help children understand maybe what they are feeling or even know that they are not the only ones that might feel this way. When children can relate to books it creates that special spark of interest within them that makes them want to pay attention and essentially learn. Poems are excellent ways to teach children about emotions and how to talk about them. Every teachers classroom could benefit from this book. This is an absolutely beautiful book with not only inspiring poetry but breath taking illustrations of quilts. I have never seen anything like this book. Every poem that I read was even better than the previous one. Since reading this I have added it to my Amazon list. It will be a must have for our children and for my classroom. The author uses such fantastic and descriptive wording to engage all of the readers' senses. Each poem focuses around peace but there is no sense of repetition. Each is so different and so inspiring. My favorite is short but sweet. It is called Peace Is. When all of them are us.
The quilted illustrations make this book, the poems have a good message but some of them are uneven.

I don't know what was more beautiful: the poems or the quilt illustrations.
