Forgive Me by Lesley Pearse is an amazing read. It starts off with the suicide of Eva's mother, for no apparent reason, and then follows Eva and her family's life as they all struggle to come to terms with what has happened. The way that the plot develops with many twists and turns, unexpected and shocking events, and the way that Eva matures and copes with all that life throws at her makes for an uplifting story. I like all the characters and find them easy to empathise with and understand. There is drama, romance, intrigue, mystery and some gothic elements, which make this well worth a read. I read it in 4 days, and found it hard to put down when I got to an exciting bit - and there are a lot of exciting bits. Can recommend this as well worth reading. I will be looking out for more books by Lesley Pearse. Up to now, I had never read any of Lesley Pearse's works. I don't usually read this kind of books, but I was incredibly disappointed. Too melodramma for one book, I guess. Tragedy after tragedy, I honestly don't know how the main character put up with all of it and the last 50 pages were the ones that really made dislike "Forgive Me". I nearly started screaming at the end of it, because it was all so far-fetched. I know that in a fictional world everything is possible, but I couldn't handle it. Maybe in the future I'll read another one of her books and change my mind.
