I hate seeing her this way, especially knowing that I am to blame, sort of. My temples pound in time with my heartbeat, the sound of blood roaring in my ears filtering the sounds of the woods. But they hammer with less ferocity than the anxiety drumming away at my brain. “How much farther are we going?”
