Prepare To Die! (2012) - Plot & Excerpts

This book was pretty damn good. As a comic book geek sure, I have read many attempt to do prose superheros but Tobin successfully makes a character that makes logical sense. Reading these reviews it seems it seems like many thought this book was sexist... I don't see it sure there is sex but there is a predatory female, lovable gay couple and the main character is written like pretty standard noir male character. The first book in a good long while that I simply couldn't bring myself to put down, Tobin delivers a stellar debut. A delicious mixture of dark humor, touching character interactions, and epic action scenes, I had a wonderful time devouring this gem. The only real drawback I found was the frequency of the flashbacks, which left me frustrated on one or two occasions. Still, I can't wait for Mr. Tobin's next literary outing.
