Prigioniera Del Tuo Amore (2013) - Plot & Excerpts
I really wanted to like this series, more than I actually ended up liking it.First - and this is my own issue really, but throughout this book I kept getting a little annoyed at the main character(or the author really) for being very innocent with the language. It felt a little too "golly gee whiz!" instead of "hell yes!"But that aside... the second thing I have to explain is from a series perspective instead of just this particular book - the story got pretty intricate, and by the end of the last book there were SO MANY questions left that hadn't been addressed. It was a little like "um hey, wait, there was a plot.. and you just wrapped up the romance (not even that well, really), leaving the plot dripping with questions." It was disappointing. I'm not entirely disappointed with having spent time reading the three books, but I wouldn't actively recommend it to others. Cliffhanger! I love / hate them! They are the reasons why I read trilogies when they are finished. I can´t stand the waiting time. I know I´m greedy. “Surrender Your Love” is written in the first-person perspective of Brooke. She meets Jett at a business meeting and they feel an immediately affection to each other. Their relationship starts with a contract. Not the usual contract I´ve read in other books. It is called “Consensual Sex and Confidentiality Agreement” (CSACA) and differs from the other contracts because there are no clarification about sexual preferences and role allocations. The rules apply for both of them equally.Brooke is a woman who doesn’t necessarily need commitment in a relationship. She pretends to be comfortable and self-assured but through childhood experiences she has enormous trust issues. For that reasons she is totally fine with sex without ties. It is Jett who wants more. While he is sure about his feelings for Brooke and wants a relationship with commitment, Brooke is afraid of their love. Her trust issues are totally understandable. She doesn’t trust easily and when she trusts him with her past he doesn’t seem worthy for that kind of trust. I felt her pain and I cried with her when the only man she totally trusts seems to betray her. With Brooke´s perspective the reader can´t be sure what really happens and if her accusations at the end of the book are true. You can only speculate. It is great how Reed uses the trust issues to evolve the relationship. The story isn’t only about love, sex and relationships. Reed uses a storyline about the mysteries of an Italian real estate to evolve the story and their relationships. It is great that this storyline brings action to the story. At the end both storylines come together and the Italian real estate has a negative impact on their relationship. It is heartbreaking to read. I really appreciate the concept of both different storylines and the transition from book to book. The first book ends with the above-named cliffhanger perfectly and stimulates the interest and excitement for the second book. The reader wants to read more about Brooke and Jett. You want to know how their story continues.
