Princess And The Frog (Disney Princess And The Frog: Limited Collector's Edition) (2009) - Plot & Excerpts
The Princess and the Frog written by Walt Disney was a great story to continue reading. Before reading this book I analyzed the front cover, this certain book is a limited collector's edition. It is also a read-aloud storybook which brings up to my mind that this a book that I could easily read to my class as a read- aloud book. Also the images in the book are very similar to the movie that was made from this book, that is another element that I noticed. Behind this book I noticed that it wasn't a typical book that give you a summary of what the book would be about, instead it showed all the Walt Disney's collector books. For example, Bolt, Chicken Little, Cinderella, The Jungle Book2, Lilo and Stitch, The Little Mermaid, Snow White and a few more that were showed on the back. The actual storyline was quite interesting and typical, it was magical just like the other fairytales. The whole idea of this story is that the princess kisses the frog then becomes a frog herself. Till the end they have a happily after. Also one thing that I love about this book is how the princess has ambition, how she is goal oriented. Not only do I relate to that but this can show a class of students that dreams become reality in the end if you work hard for them Tiana for most of her life wanted to open a restaurant and she worked hard to get to her goal. The restaurant was the dream of her and her father, but he had passed away years ago. When Prince Naveen came into town to enjoy jazz music of New Orleans he was tricked by a witch doctor and was turned into a frog. The prince went to Tiana and ask her to kiss him so he can return to be human again and offered her a reward, which she thought the money could go towards the restuarant. But, after she kissed him she turned into a frog too. The story relied on reads knowing the movie because it lacked a lot of information and detail; also at times the text was hard to read because the black text was in a dark backgroud. I would rcommend this book for early readers K through 2nd grade. Published 2009.
