Content - fast paced, amazing recipes. The main character seems much more age appropriate in this one. Mechanics - On the down side there aren't enough characters. Writers are encouraged to not overwhelm the reader with characters but in mystery there needs to be quite a lot - enough to befuddle the reader. When there are so few it's obvious whodunnit by simple process of elimination- this book being a case in point - there just weren't enough suspects to veil the culprit. On the upside the author is good at trimming the fat and keeping things filled out at the same time - a tricky balance in any book. Squeaky clean? - descriptions of violence and some ghost type stuff. Great to read especially at Halloween time. I love to read Josh Kilpack's Culinary Mysteries. The books are a combination murder mystery and cook book. Any mention of something that Sadie makes is a recipe at the end of the chapter. it also includes Sadie's notes of what this fictional character changes in the recipe to make it better. This is the sixth book of the series and perfect to read at Halloween time. You don't have to read them in order, but to grasp the full timeline you may want to. I love the that Pete is with her during this investigation. It has a new twist I was truly not expecting.
