View on Under the CoversStarting off with a sexy pic of Roarke again...because I can. RAPTURE IN DEATH is by far my favourite of the entire series and that’s quite a statement since I loved all the books leading up to this one. There was just something about this book that lured me in from the get-go. In this one, Eve Dallas is happy for a change. This is not to say that she was morbid and depressing in the previous books, but there’s this spark within her that I noticed right away. She’s a woman in love and it’s just so great to read how her relationship with Roarke grows with each passing book.Lieutenant Dallas’s case this time involves a series of deaths that seem to be caused by self-termination. But upon closer inspection, Eve believes that another factor is causing these rich and relatively happy people to become suicide victims. As she explores various avenues and leads, she finds herself meeting an associate of Dr. Mira, a woman named Reeanna Ott. Dr. Ott is also a psychologist whose beliefs are that experiences do not shape people’s lives and that the fate of a person relies on who you are at birth. I loved this side of the story because psychology is my field of study. All that frontal lobe damage and psych talk was definitely my thing. Then there’s Mavis and her gig with a new character named Jess. Jess sees potential in Mavis’s overall music career and he wants to be the man behind it. So Mavis, along with her beau, Leonardo and Jess put their heads together to make a demo for Mavis which premieres at a party that Roarke hosts. All in all, Robb crafts an amazing story. There is so much that goes on, but she manages to keep the pace moving. And I haven’t even mentioned Roarke yet! Wow, there are so many scenes with Roarke in this book and it’s partially the reason why I loved this book so much! Eve and Roarke steam things up in this book! There is one particular scene that has topped my favourite scenes with Roarke and it’s the car/lawn scene that involves Eve putting the pedal to the metal, flashing lights, torn and ripped clothing and some bite marks. This scene alone is enough reason for you to start this series! Here's a pic of sexy Roarke after this hawt sex scene... Another great thing about this book is PEABODY! I love her! Delia is becoming more and more prevalent in this series and I’m so excited about it! I love the idle banter between her and Eve. They’ve become such great friends. And Peabody cracks me up whenever her ovaries start taking over. This part cracks me up:“Roll up your tongue, Peabody,” Eve suggested, “before you step on it.”“God. Holy God. He’s better in person. Don’t you just want to bite him?”“Not particularly, but you go ahead.”Catching herself, Peabody flushed to the roots of her hair. She shifted on her sturdy legs. This was, she reminded herself, her superior. “I admire his talent.”“Peabody, you’re admiring his chest. It’s a pretty good one, so I can’t hold it against you.”“I wish he would,” she murmured.I can’t wait to read the next book! There are soo many reasons why you should start reading this series. I don’t think I could name them all. But perhaps this last picture of Roarke will persuade you.
“I'm sorry. It's hard for me. I do love you," she said quietly. "Sometimes it scares me because you're the first. And the only"He held her there until he was sure he could speak, then eased her back, looked into her eyes "You've changed my life. Become my life." He touched his lips to hers, let the kiss deepen slowly, silkily. "I need you” I fucking love Roarke. “She raised her eyes to his. They had both come from misery, she thought, and survived it. They had been drawn together through violence and tragedy, and had overcome it. They walked different paths and had found a mutual route. Some things last, she thought. Some ordinary things. Like love.” “He linked his fingers with hers. And because he had used it when he'd hurt her, he balanced that out by using it now. "A ghra.""Huh?" A line appeared between her brows. "Is that Gaelic again?""Yes." He brought their joined fingers to his lips. "Love. My love.” My dad used that expression .... "a ghra" - Not in the romantic sense/ He would ask ... "are you alright a ghra?" “He turned her into his arms as they stepped into the studio, ran his hands over her hips. "I missed you. I miss spending large quantities of time with you."She felt the heat kindle between her thighs, hotter, lustier than the moment called for. Her breasts tingled with it. "I missed you, too. Why don't we figure out how to cut the evening short, go home, and fuck like rabbits?"He was hard as iron. As he leaned down to nip at her ear, he found himself struggling not to tug at her clothes. "Good thought. Christ, I want you.”
What do You think about Rapture In Death (2006)?
Don't worry! The spark will be back ;). This was my least favorite book (of the 6 I read from this series) but book 5 is a lot better and the 6th one is THE BEST!

I found myself annoyed in the first quarter of this book, though I'm not sure exactly why. I think it's because I dislike the premise behind controlling someone (even to the point of self-destruction) by some kind of brain manipulation. Towards the middle, I found myself annoyed because everybody seemed to be stuck on despair as the sole motivator for suicide—even in the face of direct evidence to the contrary. By the mid-point (or shortly thereafter), my annoyances faded and I finished on a relative up-beat.Peabody continues to be a favorite character. Her quick thinking action is reliably fun and her calm wit in odd moments sparks true, out-loud laughter. She's particularly fun in her fangirl moments with either pop-culture or simple fannish appreciation of every-day things Eve takes for granted (like Roarke…).This book also has a really odd interlude with a page or so perspective shift to a sociopath. (view spoiler)[I suspected this was a deliberate red herring at the time, and was kind of annoyed to find that I was right. Really awkward, almost amateur, move by Robb. (hide spoiler)]

Eve keeps getting questioned about her honeymoon; Mavis is recording a studio album; Roarke is handing away orgasms like nobody’s business and four people with nothing in common are DEAD.The mystery is the most predictable mystery to end all predictable mysteries since that Cold Case episode where the Butler did it.Roarke is the most fictional romantic leading man ever written, and I know you guys love him for that but I just can't get over it. Eve rocks as a character, but even she couldn't save the most predictable mystery to end all predictable mysteries. Why the three stars? Please allow me to pay tribute to my favorite character in this series. You can keep your Roarke ladies.PEABODY FOR PRESIDENT!Eve laughed, dragged a hand through her hair. "You sucking up, Officer?""No, sir. If I was sucking up, I'd make some personal observation, such as marriage obviously agrees with you, Lieutenant. You've never looked lovelier." * * *"Peabody?""Sir." Several expressions passed over Peabody's face before it went carefully blank. "That's a lovely dress, Lieutenant. Are you premiering a new style?"Baffled, Eve looked down, then rolled her eyes. "Shit. You've seen my tits before." But she set the communicator down and struggled the bodice into place."And may I say, sir, they're quite lovely.""Sucking up, Peabody?""You bet." * * *"I'm going to see where she went and when. Ah, if I appear to have any suicidal urges after I'm done -- or decide I can relax better without the confines of my clothes -- you're ordered to knock me cold.""Without hesitation, sir."Eve cocked a brow. "But you're not expected to enjoy it.""I'll hate every minute of it," Peabody promised, and folded her hands.Buddy read with Dee.
