Red Knit Cap Girl To The Rescue (2013) - Plot & Excerpts
Another beautiful story by Naoko Stoop. I love the fact that the illustrations are done on woodgrain...it makes the sky and the water look so vibrant and beautiful! Our loveable Red Knit Cap Girl and friendly animals are back, making beautiful paper crafts, when they spot a baby polar bear stranded on the ice. It then becomes an adventure to rescue her and get her back to her home.Just a cute, vibrant book. I really like the characterization of the animals and, of course, red knit cap girl. All smiles! Five stars for illustration, 2-3 for narrative. The painted wood with collage elemnts provided a beautiful backdrop to this picturebook. The illustrations are so sweet, colorful and soft. Red Knit Cap Girl is a mouthful to say--especially if reading aloud. I was slightly disappointed at the missed opportunity to incorporate more fairy tale tropes with such a name, but alas, it was instead a meander story to return a polar bear to the north. It is worth flipping through for the beautiful artwork, but that is all.
What do You think about Red Knit Cap Girl To The Rescue (2013)?
Sweet, gentle, fanciful. Art reminds me of German Haba Co. wooden toys.
