Rook, The (2008) - Plot & Excerpts

Great novel that serves as an excellent continuation to the events of the first book. While it's own mystery story, I enjoyed the number of ties to the previous book and its setup for the next book. It makes the book feel more realistic since these mystery novels are tied into each other, and not a lot of stand-alone novels. The mystery was compelling, the main character's were again complex characters, and there was a really good character arc dealing with if we can escape the evil that is in each of us. There aren't many mystery novels that are able to deliver both a mystery, and a character arc. This is one of them.4.5 stars. I intended on reading a different book entitled The Rook, but accidentally checked out this one. I had know idea it is the second book in a series, but I was able to follow along nicely. It is a thriller and I would say it is PG 13 for language and violence. It is about an FBI agent who uses his amazing mathematical skills to predict crimes and finds himself in the middle of a case which includes a secret government weapon, murder, and arson. It is fast paced and engaging. I would recommend it for a long flight or while hanging out at the beach. Now I think I will attack my originally intended novel :)
