Mythic creatures, powerful artifacts and potions, and magic, this is what makes Fablehaven a great series. In Brandon Mul's 'Fablehaven' there are satyrs, unicorns, also other types of creatures. There are a lot of cool artifacts used, especially the five keys to the demon prison. Potions aren't really mentioned much, but are still used quite often. Magic, mainly light and dark magic, is constantly used throughout the series. There are light and dark creatures, artifacts, weapons, and etc. The shadow plague, which turned light creatures to creatures of darkness was very creative and helps show that there are endless possibilities to magic. In book three, when the nail causing the shadow plague, and the stone of light come in contact and are both destroyed. That might leave questions Vasilis, the sword of light and darkness, but Vasilis only reflects a person's magic, making them stronger. In conclusion that is what makes Fablehaven a enjoyable series. I enjoyed all 5 books. I enjoyed reading them and found that I couldn't stop. I wanted to do bodily harm to the young boy, because, he wouldn't listen and he kept getting himself and the magical characters in predicaments that that led to disaster. I did enjoy the pace of the books. The first one seemed to be slow at first. Some friends that started this book didn't go any further and missed out on the best books because of the slowness and at times boring. But, when it started to pick up, it really took off and became amazing. I recommend this series and encourage not to stop reading in the beginning of the first book or you will miss out on a really good series.
