I stumbled on this author after a two-week reading slump. When I say slump, I mean I've been reading novels that were so bad, it baffles me as to why they even hit bookshelves. I can't even bear to mark them as 'read'. They were that bad. So I got desperate and scoured Goodreads for highly-recommended books. Then this author kept popping up. I thought this book would be another sexually-charged novel with characters that hate each other at first then predictably fall into bed (yawn). But this book surprised me. I couldn't stop laughing over the witty banter of the two characters. The plot itself is simple. But the writing style is sooooo good. Maybe it has something to do with the fact that the guy is a classic Alpha male and the girl just didn't take any of his shit. I like the lack of histrionics in this book. The lack of drama is refreshing! It's straightforward, witty and capable of inducing embarrassment on the reader - laughing out loud in public. On to another Julie James novel! This was just ok. I've heard a lot of positive talk about this author and decided to pick this up since it was on sale for $.99. I wasn't all that enamored of the hero and I didn't really relate to the heroine. I don't relate to perfect people, I guess, and their misreading/misunderstanding of each other when they parted ways was pretty contrived and seemed out of character. The hero not answering the phone multiple time was an immature asshole thing to do, too. Maybe this just wasn't a good Julie James book to start with, but I read the preview in this book for her next book and it didn't seem like my cup of tea, either.
What do You think about Si Direbbe Amore (2013)?
Enjoyed the sassy back and forth - looking forward to Kyle's story.
