We had hatched it while having breakfast in my local Pain Quotidien. Julia and I have been friends for thirty-five years. Our husbands were friends first. Jerry met me and Richard met Julia about the same time, and we all fell in love with one another. They lived in Los Angeles then and moved back to England shortly thereafter, eventually settling in Wales, and we have continued our friendship with extended visits in each other’s homes and meeting for vacations.
