Cute. A little better than what I've been getting for a winter storytime theme. And I think the kids will love seeing a snow librarian. If I can get them to look at the pictures--which are the best part--I think this will be an enjoyable read and a fun idea for them.1/22/14: They loved the pictures and the idea of snowmen doing that kind of work. A good opener for a snow/winter theme, and fabulous lead in to "Once there was a Snowman." A boy wakes one morning to discover that his walkway is shoveled, but no one has been outside to do it. He then ponders whether his snowman might have done the work--and whether snowmen have jobs. The imagining of Snowmen engaging in work is fun. And it provides an opportunity to discuss different types of jobs with younger children. I didn't love the rhyming verse that the book was written in, though. It was alright, but felt a little forced at times. Plus, sometimes I think that children's books are written in rhyme to compensate for a lack of quality content. However, the illustrations were beautiful. The lighting techniques used in them are beautiful, and make the pictures appear to glow from within. There's a lot of great detail that I think kids will enjoy.
