This book was awesome! I loved it! The characters were so relatable and their journey's were incredible. I wish I could have a Reece Roth in my life to guide me and help me take the limits off my thinking. I loved the setting of this book and the spiritual warfare. It really gave you a deeper understanding of what is going on around us on a daily bases and how we need to be so much more aware. Freedom is the theme of the book and I loved it. I cannot wait to get my hands on the sequel! This book was a wild ride. Admittedly, this is my first venture into Rubart’s writing. I have his previous books in a stack of ‘want to reads’ but as someone who reviews books professionally, it’s hard to get to those books. His concepts have always intrigued me though, so this time around when we received the offer, I jumped on it. (Thank you Audra!) I am ever so glad that I did. The idea that we might be able to actually venture INTO someone’s soul to battle on their behalf takes prayer warriors and intercessory prayer to a whole new level. I wasn’t honestly sure how I felt about it when I started reading. The idea of it was so radical and out there…and in all my years of church going, youth leading, and Biblical study, no one has ever pointed out any of those passages to me. I love that.I admit that this book completely shook the way I viewed the world and I have a sneaking suspicion that this is exactly what Rubart had hoped when he sat down to write it. It’s rare for me to pop up while I’m reading it and start searching for my Bible to see if what the writer is saying is really there. Somewhere in the back of my mind, I knew it would be, but I needed to see it for myself. Of course it was all there and more besides. This was an absolutely incredible journey. I spent half of my reading time researching all of the scripture references in the book and looking for more, a third of my time talking the implications over with my husband and at least seventy five percent of my time praying through the concept and asking God what His plan for me was – if that was even possible or if it was fiction. (And yes, I’m well aware of the percentages and fractions in the statement above – there’s a reason I’m not a mathematician!)Spiritual warfare has been a heavy theme in my life over the past six months and this book was no exception. It pulled away a veil and made me see things in a whole new light. Much like Peretti’s Darkness series in the 80’s, the world, the Bible and spiritual warfare are all changed for me now. I see them all differently and am praying for the Lord to continue to open my eyes to the power and potential in the Christian walk.If you love supernatural books, this is right up your alley. Suspense? War? Adventure? Mystery? This book has it all. I can now say I am firmly a Rubart fan and cannot wait to see what he brings to the table next!Publicist Provided – thank you Audra!
What do You think about Soul's Gate (2012)?
Absolutely intriguing. Suspenseful and open ended with room for the next in the series.
