Well, I bought this book with a set of expectations and all of them were fulfilled. Is it a masterpiece? It is not. But it's got great, geek humor and overall it's very enjoyable. I was delighted by how Jimmy's branch of the story turned out (not the cliché way), but as a whole the plot and the characters were quite predictable, and somewhat plain. Maybe the first book prepared me for this, but at any case I wasn't bothered by it.So, if you want a light and fun reading, this is precisely what you'll get. Understand Meyer is not a very experienced author, so he has to keep it simple or he might screw up. I do hope he does something more daring, though, maybe in another series. He's got plenty of material to work with, the universe he's created is very powerful. Get ready to get your geek on...The first book, Off to Be the Wizard took a while to get into...mostly because it took a few chapters for.the story to get going and for me to get used to this authors voice. With all those bugs worked out, this second book was full of hilariously geeky sci fi fun from the start! The only thing is the time traveling, time loop got REALLY confusing. By the end I think I got it though. I hope book three isn't too far away!
