Seymour the mouse is ill, so Splat creates a book to cheer Seymour up. The book is filled with amusing illustrations of things Seymour has done for Splat, and for which Splat now says "thank you." It's charming to read a book in which the friendship is based on beings doing thoughtful things for one another. And I dearly love Scotton's art. It's a bit wacky (the plague that's struck down everyone involves tiny lavender spots on top of their fur), but rich and rewarding to study. A great picture book.Library copy. Splat is my son's new favorite character. This is our first Splat book, which is completely out of order because this particular book is a recap of their many adventures together. The message is sweet. Splat wants to make his best friend smile. There are a couple instances where I chuckled. Splat is very much the friend you love for no good reason, then he gives you a really good one. The illustrations are fun, sometimes downright lovely. The text is basic, but read the right way, it could be fun for the non-four year old too. 4STARS because my little one picks Splat over all our other books and I feel a trend coming on.
What do You think about Splat Says Thank You! (2012)?
We love Splat! This one went down a star because it sorta lacked a plot...
