When she moved, he did too, sitting up straighter and leaning forward, elbows on his knees. “Water,” she said, her voice hoarse. What was it about the canned air of the hospital that her throat was always so damn dry? He nodded and stood, sauntering over to the cart by her bed. He poured her a cup from the plastic pitcher, and she took the opportunity to get a better look at him.
