The Billionaire's Obsession: The Complete Collection ~ Simon (2013) - Plot & Excerpts
I did it. I read this. And I'm proud of it. Well, pride might be going too far. I'm not ashamed of it, at least haha. Like many other readers of this series, I got sucked into it because of the price; the first installment was free, and the next three, as a bundle, was a whopping 99 cents. Couldn't pass that up!Kara is a down-on-her-luck waitress/student/loner, going to school and work full time and barely making enough to scrape by each month. The owner of the restaurant she works at has two billionaire sons, and the younger one, Simon, notices her. Instantly smitten (okay, horny), he watches (stalks) her for a year. One night, overwhelmed by sickness, weakness, and hunger, Kara passes out on the street. Luckily, Simon saw her faint, and he picks her up, takes her to his home, gets her a doctor, and insists she stays the night. Unused to favors and kindness, even from this gruff near-stranger, she tries to refuse, but later finds out that her roommate skipped town with her last few months of rent money, leaving her homeless, possession-less, and in debt. Simon asks (demands) that she move in with him. He will provide her with money, food, clothes, shelter, and support, in return for one thing: a night of crazy sex, exactly how he wants it, total control. Simon is a total Alpha male, a control freak, and has no self-worth beyond the exorbitant amount of money he has worked hard to earn. He also can't have sex unless he's in control and totally dominating the situation. Kara is self-sacrificing, stubborn, and also has no self-worth, beyond how much she's busted her ass to get where she is. She has also never orgasmed or had even remotely good sex with her one past boyfriend. They both have a lot to work on. This is a kind-of-feel-good story. There's a whole lot of drama, but that's what keeps bringing it's readers back. What I liked about it was that even though it was an adult romance--okay, erotica--there was still a story line. There was characterization. There was growth. It wasn't just mindless sex scenes, what happened mattered to the story line. Was it the best story ever? No. Were these the most original characters? No. Was this a deep, life-changing piece of work? No. In fact, it reminded me a lot of Twilight. Like, a LOT. I'm not going to go into listing all the similarities, but there's a lot of parallels. Still, I liked Twilight. Again, not ashamed to admit it. In fact, I'll even admit that I would give this little series a 3.5, if I was able to give half stars. If you don't mind ebooks and drama and want something a little spicier, I'd recommend this book. I did it. I read this. And I'm proud of it. Well, pride might be going too far. What do You think about The Billionaire's Obsession: The Complete Collection ~ Simon (2013)?
I read this as a box set for the first 4 books on this series. If you are in the mood for some hot, steamy romance then J.S. Scott is your author. These books are fairly quick reads but they certainly pack a punch.Kara is struggling to get by, she is working her way through finishing her nursing degree and has been sick. When she almost passes out on her way home from work, Simon is there to come to her rescue.Simon has been secretly infatuated with Kara for a while now, she works part time for his mother's restaurant, and he has been watching out for her from afar... This series takes you through their first encounter and into their relationship... It has sweet moments and some very fun times, hot steamy love scenes and some great characters that you will get to know.
