Trees don't just stand there looking pretty, you know! This lovely book with rich, lush illustration explains in simple language all of the activity in and around that tree in your yard or at the park. This is a great book to carry outside to show your child the trees at home or the park. What a fun and easy way to learn more about the natural world. I did take off one star because the rhyming here annoyed me (there was no reason for it in a nature book) but it is well worth sharing with your favorite young children. This book is about a big tree and all of the creatures that live in it. It also talks about all of the wonderful things that trees provide for us like oxygen and wood. I would use this book during a lesson on the different eco systems. I would make a big tree in our classroom and have each student pick a creature that lives in a tree or depends on trees for survival. After they have chosen a creature I will have them do a fact sheet about that animal and print out a picture of that animal and put it on the tree.
Beautiful artwork depicts the integral role of a tree to animals as well as enjoyment for children.
