The Council Of Dads: My Daughters, My Illness, And The Men Who Could Be Me (2010) - Plot & Excerpts

As someone who has lost two fathers (one to cancer), and whose mother has had two close brushes with the disease, this was a really tough book for me. I cried fairly routinely while reading it, and the last two chapters were an absolute sob-fest.That being said, it was also a very healing book for me to read. Not every father has the words or the time to undertake the experiment Mr. Feiler did, but his book serves as an excellent reminder that ever father wishes they did. That, when faced with their own mortality, one of their biggest concerns is the ones they are about to leave behind. This certainly hit home with me, and gave me a sense of closure to go along with the grief. An excellent read.
