The Secrets Of Happy Families: Improve Your Mornings, Rethink Family Dinner, Fight Smarter, Go Out And Play, And Much More (2013) - Plot & Excerpts
Not a bad format, and I think the author succeeded in his aim to not produce just a one-size-fits-all, biased list of essentials. I got some good ideas out of it, a few that got me revved up to maybe try. But, in balance to that, over half of the chapters felt weary/useless for me. So, some worthwhile takeaways (which will vary by reader) and a good sense that it IS important to keep trying to make a happy family, but not a home run. I first was introduced to Feiler on a TED talk, when he explained his "Agile" family. It was nerdy enough for me to get the book. The layout of the book is simple. It explains an idea, supports it with research, then gives practical applications. I particularly liked the sections on the aforementioned Agile Family and the part about "Branding your family." Some of the ideas may be too dorky for some members of the family, but if put into place properly, everyone quickly sees the benefits they reap.
