The Dog Lived (and So Will I) (2012) - Plot & Excerpts
I didn't know much about the book when I began reading but was quickly pulled in by the story, entertaining writing and frankly, the proximity to my home. As both a dog lover and breast cancer survivor, the story resurrected strong feelings. Teresa Rhyme is a talented writer who is able to put into words what so many others are feeling but can't translate into words. Though I selected the book thinking I would be reading a story about a dog. In fact The Dog Lived is about so much more including relationships (animal and human ones), the impact of a cancer diagnosis (on animals and people), and how at least one woman navigated through the storm.I was sorry when I had finished the book and look forward to Teresa's next one. Doggone Bow-dacious! This was a howl of a read about two cancer survivors with an attitude. You can't help but fall in love with Theresa, the legal eagle, and Seamus, the neurotic, adorable beagle, both in full bay! And then there's the devoted "cub," Chris, who wisely and lovingly guides them through the obstacle course of surviving Chemo and Radiation. He's a survivor, too! Wonderfully uplifting.
What do You think about The Dog Lived (and So Will I) (2012)?
A funny, poignant, a ultimately an uplifting story of two cancer adventures.
