I’ll go check in with Michael, see how the kids are holding up.” Alice left Xia and Mitsuru to watch the perimeter, glancing up at Haley’s wispy form hovering overhead like their own dedicated little angel – illuminated because she was implanting visual information in Alice’s field of view, rather than actually being visible – comforted by the knowledge that Karim and Chike were on overwatch, ready to put an armor-piercing round through anything foolish enough to move in their direction.
