The Great And The Terrible: From The End Of Heaven, Book 5 (2000) - Plot & Excerpts

We are loving this series of books on CD. The series is called "The Great and the Terrible," and is a series of 6 novels by Chris Stewart. I read the first novel in hardback book form, and was intrigued. So when my friend Monja Burgess offered to loan us the whole series on CD, I jumped on that idea. I wanted to share this with my husband, so we started over and now have listened to 5 of the 6 in the series. This one has brought new thoughts and considerations into my mind. I haven't worried over what would happen when this world comes to an end, though I do believe from the scriptures that it will end and be cleansed. I guess I haven't thought that it would come in my lifetime, or if it did, it would just be a "big bang" and it would all be over quickly. To see how world events can change so quickly with one evil nation's actions, and to see how directly it affects our daily lives has caused me to think deeper and to have a desire to prepare better for that eventuality. I have seen the importance of having an emergency supply kit, also a good food storage program, especially with water, and communication device, light source, and so many other things I hadn't even considered. I hope I will take action to improve my preparedness. I really enjoy these characters, their resiliance, their strong faith and ingenuity in figuring out what to do. It has scared me a little, but in a positive way. I can't wait to read the last novel and find out how this all comes out. I have hope for a good ending in spite of all the upheaval and change and challenges. It has been fascinating and sobering to seriously consider life without electricity. Especially if everything that worked on electricity (watches, cars, trucks, planes, water pumps, etc.) suddenly stopped as if someone had turned off a giant switch that controlled the entire USA. So many IMMEDIATE challenges. You could flush a toilet ONCE and then later wish you had the gallon and 1/2 of water that had been in the tank. Within a day or so, everything in your refrigerator would spoil. Reading this series has caused me to consider buying a watch that you wind up everyday! This is the second to last book in the series and the end of the world is fast approaching with the resultant, climatic battle between good and evil. This particular book made me think often of a scriptural story and a statement that I find comforting. You can find it in 2 Kings 6:16. Can't wait for the finish!

As millions of Americans face the prospect of imminent starvation, chaos and violence rule the angry streets. For some, all hope is lost as they struggle in a world suddenly turned on its head. But for those who keep their faith, hope is still alive. While Sara Brighton helps a shadow government rise to power, Sam and Bono are sent on the most dangerous military mission of their lives. Author: Chris Stewart Highly recommend.

Miracles happen everyday, and Angels are among us. This book shows the continuation of the battle of good and evil all around us. How close Satan is, how he works to bring us to our knees in despair. And when things look dismal, how close help is. We need to ask, and believe that help will come.Still love this series and only 1 left to read. These books are enlightening. I love the "aha" moments.
