An easy read that's bursting with details about life in the Hollows. Devin Crossman is a blogger/journalist who has the misfortune of getting caught in one of Rachel's misfired spells, and spends the next few years obsessed with gathering information about her. This book is a collection of his journal entries, notes, articles, fact sheets from his newspaper, internal memos and expense reports, snippets of books Rachel studied or owns, maps of her home and frequently visited locations, emails, and the occasional copy of Trent's letters that outline his own investigation into Crossman's investigation. A very clever way to present both important and mundane details that the reader might not pick up on when reading the books, and the opportunity to watch part of Rachel's story unfold from a human's point of view. This was really quite a cool concept, and I regret not having read it in series order! (Impatience does get the better of me...and it was checked out for a looooong time.) I'd mistakenly assumed this was just another of those in-between series fillers, some short stories, a map or two - but this was so much more. It was quite entertaining to read an "outsider's" view of the Hollows, and a journalistic investigation of Rachel Morgan! Great fun. And now onto book 12. Well, not now - I do need to pace myself just a teensy bit more.
