This would have been better if the author would leave out the random unnecessary interjections of political cheap shots. I'm a huge fan of this genre but this one was just meh. It sounded like an interesting premise but quickly devolved into the same old evil rich guy/ government cabal blah blah blah. One section in and I could see where we were going and it was to retread town. The writing wasn't bad or anything, just unoriginal and as a huge fan of this genre I'm sick of the same old bad guy story. I would rather the virus origin just be a mystery. The one thing I really did like was the new take on the infected. This is not zombies - but more like 28 Days Later rage infected - but with some very interesting nuances. Both narrators were okay but Christian Rummel was fantastic. I'll be looking for more of his audio work. This one is worth reading or listening to only if you are a big fan of the genre and you can get it on sale. I really enjoyed these four short stories, all of them interrelated neatly. My only wish is that they could carry on the stories more and more. I'd like to know more about what happens with Holly and Sam after heading north. Do they develop a vaccine for the infection? Do things end up messily again? Guess we'll never know. I really don't find the ex series very interesting, but really enjoyed this one. In truth, I just read a bit of that series, but this one definitely held my interst and the narrators did well.
Ok, although it felt like a beginning to a longer story.

A fun, quick zombie read. Characters tie together well.

Four short stories that leave you hanging but a fun.
