The Kid Who Ran For President (2000) - Plot & Excerpts

The book The Kid Who Ran For President by Dan Gutman is a kid that became the president of the U.S. In the beginning of the story Lane and Judson are playing a game of pool. Lane is also watching his favorite show Meet the Press, which is talking about which party has a better chance of winning the election for the presidency. That is when Lane came up with the weird idea of a kid running for president; the kid in particular is Judson Moon. So Judsongives in and they meet the next day in the tree house to decide who would be Judson's running mate, first Lady and how to raise $20,000,000 to finance the campaign. Lane called the Associated Press and gets one of the journalists to write a story on Judson's candidacy. After the news from the Associated Press hit the papers, all the kids of America start mailing all the money from their fundraising efforts to finance Judson's campaign, and the money totals up to about $20,000,000! When he goes to school the next morning, his principal asked him to make a speech. After he gives his speech, he has the entire group of kids going crazy. Then Judson is called to Chicago for a press conference. When it is over Judson reduces his opponents votes. Everything looked well for Judson, at least until one phone call messed up everything . What happened was that Judson's parents threw a party for his success at the press conference. Then a reporter called and asked if he stole a term paper from a person's locker. Judson said "yes" and hung up. The next day it was all over the paper and the news hurt his poll. Then Lane saved his campaign by taking the last $100.00 to get some air time on TV. Judson gave the modified "Checkers Speech". The next day was Election Day, and when the votes came in the winner was Judson Moon. Judson is the new official President of the United States.

the kid who ran for president is about a kid who ran for president as a joke. however he was taken seriously even though he was not serious. he was interviewed by newspapers and was in debates. in fact he was in a presidential debate and felt strong about it. then he became not passionate and caring. in my opinion i thought that the ending was not good because i actually would have wanted to see him become president. since he did not i was disappointed. the book would have been good but the ending mad it bad. i liked that it shows the struggle people who run for presient go through and what happens to them.

The Kid Who Ran For President is about a 12 year old boy who runs for president and it was a fantastic book. The book is a funny ,goofy and a crazy book. The book is short but has big words such as Constitution and Republicanism and all those presidential words. . The meaning of the book is crazy because a kid runs for president, and I'm not going to tell you who wins and what happens. Enjoy the BOOK!!!The book is awesome and I hope you enjoy it if you read it. I suggest this book for middle schoolers and up because they actually know the meanings of the words and about being the president of the USA.
