The Leader In Me Kisah Sukses Sekolah Dan Pendidik Menggali Potensi Terbesar Setiap Anak (2008) - Plot & Excerpts
Others' critiques of this book are warranted. Like many books in this genre, the guru/writer does a lot of repetition of old news and then tells of a success story where a set of steps 'fixed' a school. If you are willing to get past this, the book does have a great message and I took ideas away that seem pretty simplistic, but that are often overlooked in schools managing a lot of stakeholders, outside mandates, and trying to be all things to all people. The most important lesson being, add-on programs for character education are not going to change the choices kids make. A school needs to have an integrated approach to developing the whole child, academically and emotionally in order to prepare them to develop and actualize their potential. I would love to visit some of the schools mentioned in the book. I love this book and the process it describes. Mr. Cox and the staff at Holly Elementary will be introducing "The Leader in Me" to the students for the 2012-2013 school year. An opportunity for the children at Holly Elementary to grow from the inside out. I have now order "The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People" for myself and "The 7 Habits of Happy Kids" for Kelsey. We are changing our futures, not easy - WORTH IT! :-)
