The Legend Of Eli Monpress, Volumes I, II & III (2014) - Plot & Excerpts
I found this omnibus extremely entertaining and crammed full with hilarious characters. From the gruff and growling ghosthound Gin to the quiet, conflicted demonseed Nico every character is three dimensional and commands your attention at one time or another. The world Rachel Aaron has created is a very interesting one filled with wizards, spirits, obsessed swordsmen and coniving council members. The plot twists and turns, never failing to keep you entertained and, while it's a rather lighthearted read, there are some darker, gripping moments. I'd recommend this book for fans of cocky, too smart for their own good thieves, swords with minds of their own and catastrophes that you know will always turn out okay in the end. I really like these books a lot. I enjoyed the imagination in this book and in this world. There are a few things that annoyed me though. I find Miranda very annoying, she wants to catch Eli so badly she whines about it and I just find her to be whiny and a pain. I do love Gin though and Mellinor. As I continue this series I do find myself enjoying Eli's arrogance and determination to become number one. All in all, this book is excellent.
