The Paramedic And The Writer (2013) - Plot & Excerpts
This book was the first one to semi-disappoint even though I enjoyed learning about Jamie and the action packed plot revolving around Ian. While I enjoyed seeing that not everything was perfect in Ellery, with the homophobia/gaybashing, I also felt it was tacked on. More needed to be done with this aspect, as once again the story was so short and sweet. I just felt that this line was left hanging at the end. Jamie loves being out of the city working as a paramedic in the small Smokey Mountain town of Ellery with Dr. Liam Wolfe and all his other friends there. He just wishes they would all stop trying to get him to their Friday night gatherings. Being the only single gay man at the watering hole is not his idea of a good time. When he and Max come across a crashed car while out running, he has no clue that his single life is coming to an end. While he is very interested in the John Doe he saved at the accident, first he needs to find out his name and why he was in a car with a gun and a dead man. After the confusion with who the John Doe is, they finally determine that he is the brother of one of the hospital employees Jamie knows. His real name is Ian and he fights his attraction to Jamie. He is not aware that Jamie is gay; Ian Jamie and his sister are dating. Finally, things are cleared up. Jamie and Ian stop resisting their attraction and begin seeing each other. Unfortunately, it may be short lived. Ian is a journalist whot travels the world to dangerous place to report the news. Jamie does not know if he can go through losing another adrenaline junkie who may not survive his job.Fans of the Ellery Mountain series will not want to miss this one. These are keepers. The continuing storyline revolving around Daniel's Veterans Center is as captivating as the Friday night gatherings and the other interesting characters in this town. Watching the Center evolve and how all the friends work together to get things done is amazing. I want to go visit these people in real life. I want to meet them.
