I have been enjoying the Hangman's Daughter series, but this one seemed a bit long. I thought the story arc was on it's way to wrapping up, and then saw I was only about 50% through the book. There was a lot going on in this book, so there was more to keep up with than usual. However, I got a second wind when the story arc really did start to wrap up in the later chapters. All in all, another enjoyable book and an escape to another (albeit harder) time. As I've read each of these four books I keep waiting for a bad one, but they've remained, in my opinion, quite good. Perhaps it's because it's all about family. The author has again taken his ancestors and the area of the country he knows well and used them in their time & place to set the tone and, of course, solve another mystery. And once again, while things are not perfect, it's all about family. A wonderful read!
What do You think about The Poisoned Pilgrim (2013)?
I love how complex and historical these books are. This one is well written and complex.
