GREAT COVER (SPOLIER ALERT) This story will spur some great dialog in any class. It is a story of survival, with lots of suspense. Robie is frustrating as a protagonist and it is I admit, difficult to root for her at first. How do you root for someone who won’t put on her life vest when the plane is going down and yells at the co-pilot who saves her life? She makes a lot of mistakes in this survival novel; she is not even close to military material…but somehow she survives! Robbie is most scared of being by herself, or having no one to rely on but herself. She had to make Max still be there so she would have someone to ask what to do. It was a horrible experience, but one that Robbie makes it through. She is much more capable then she thought. Somehow Robie manages to survive 12 days on a raft then an island, alone. This book has a lot of character development of both Robie and Max. Short chapters make this a quick, fast read. There are parts of this book where you just have to suspend disbelief. If you can do that, it's a decent read. While I had issues with Robie, I did find it interesting how resourceful she was. I'm quite certain that if I ever faced a situation like this I wouldn't last long at all. so I appreciate characters who, despite their terror and feelings of hopelessness, manage to pull themselves together and figure out ways to keep going.
What do You think about The Raft (2012)?
Nicely written, I enjoyed reading it. I see I read another book by this author last year.

Pretty good book, but this story has been told many times.
