The Road To Cardinal Valley (2012) - Plot & Excerpts
I started to give this book 4 stars instead 8f 5. The book meets my 5 star criteria. The story is very good, the characters are so real you feel like you know them and once I was a third of the way through I wouldn't put it down. The writing is good, you don't think about it while you are reading. My hesitation was that the book is not profound and probably not "great" literature. But, it is a very good read. And I liked it very much. In, fact, after I finished the first book in this series, Th Saddlemaker's Wife, I wanted to know more about the characters. I looked for this book and actually bought it.So... a good read. I thoroughly enjoy Earlene Fowler's characters. I find most of them relatable, so I care about what happens to them. (Of course, my favorites are still Bennie, Gabe, and the rest of the crew in that series!) In this book, I particularly appreciated how Earlene Fowler headed each chapter with the name of the character from whose point of view it was being told. Through the use of this strategy, I felt the story flowed nicely, yet kept me challenged. Without giving too much away, I was also pleased with how the love interest angle developed for Ruby.
What do You think about The Road To Cardinal Valley (2012)?
Good story, but liked the Benni Harper mysteries better.
