The Sheriff And The Innocent Housekeeper (Historical Western Novella) (2000) - Plot & Excerpts
Short and simple read. I love the way Lynda Chance writes. She takes the romance always encounters a few stumbles and roadblocks that are nerve-wracking but still gotten over fairly quickly and not overly drawn out of over-dramatized to the point that the issues seem insurmountable or ridiculous. In this case, Becky is forced to choose between Jake and Kyle, but in her mind there is no choice whatsoever. Kyle believes that he can give her any material thing she wants, and Jake begrudgingly agrees with this, but the desire doesn't care about financial wealth, it craves the connection that can't be purchased, that is simply innate. Becky Hamilton, is an orphan who came to live with her aunt love when she was fourteen. The sheriff where she works for Jake Cooper is the man that she has a crush on. She cooks and cleans for him, now three years later Jake is having a hard time ignoring his housekeeper and now she has an admirer who wants to marry her. It is time for her to make his move, because she belongs to him.Very short story.. Jake is a dominant and Becky is in love.

It was good enough but the time set was not one I'd like to read a story in.
