This has to be best 99p I have ever spent! This was a download on Amazon's daily deal and was the most enchanting, funny, moving and heartbreaking read. Frankie is an unforgettable character as are most of his extended family and friends. Anyone who suffers from slightly OCD tendencies and sometimes finds themselves a little worried what might be lurking in the water in swimming pools will very much relate to him! I would love to read more from this author as this work was so enjoyable. I was disappointed. The synopsis promised more than the book was able to deliver in terms of storyline, but the descriptions of individual characters was excellent. I felt that I had an understanding of Frankie and his friends, and that the author created a real sense of family love and support, but in an unconventional way. Frankie having realised his mother is 'different' because she doesn't go outside, should have been the catalyst for the exploration of so many aspects of family relationships, and friendships, but somehow the book left me 'flat'.
What do You think about The Ten PM Question (2000)?
A quite good tale about a young boy dealing with anxiety issues. And it takes place in New Zealand!

Kind of felt like the style of reading The Curious Incident of the dog in the night time

Really enjoyed this book - well written, and very 'real' feeling.
