arrived together. They’d met at the ferry, which deepened Bailey’s suspicion that Angel had arrived early just to get time alone with Brad. They gathered in the main room for bedroom assignments and introductions. There was Vera, a thirtyish woman who was indeed over three hundred pounds and wore blue eye shadow. Her smile was just as large, and Bailey felt guilty even though it had been Jesse’s joke and not hers. Then there was Daniel. He was a skinny man in his fifties. He wore what looked like a long white dress—although to be fair, it was probably more of a smock. Worn brown sandals adorned his rather large feet. Bailey always hated looking at men’s feet. His were especially horrifying. Granted, it was a bit hypocritical for a nail biter, but seriously, she was going to have to get him to cover those things. At his side was an enormous German shepherd. Daniel introduced the dog as “Tree.” Bailey and Brad hadn’t even discussed pets. They were both animal lovers, but this was a business.
