I really enjoyed Gleason's Gardella Vampire Chronicles series, so that set the bar for my expectations for this series. For me, the Vampire Voss didn't deliver. It wasn't that it was bad, it just wasn't up to the level of Gardella books. I think one reason for that was the lack of a strong, central character around which to build the series. While the Regency Draculia series has common characters in all of the books (so far, at least), the POV continuously shifts and each book focuses on a different couple. It just didn't work as well for me. I didn't feel that any of the characters were particularly well-developed. I'll read the others in the series, hoping they get better. Again, not awful, but not the greatest, either. 2.75 The story was good I just didn't connect with the characters. The ending was a surprise to. I don't think I will read anymore in this series though. Voss is a vampire with no morals, friends, or family. Angelica Woodmere's vampire hunting brother has gone missing so her & her sister must go stay with one of her brother's friends (who oddly enough is a vampire). Angelica & Voss are attracted to one another but she doesn't know he's a vamp. Meanwhile another vampire family is trying to kidnap her to get back at her brother. Voss saves her several times and all the while he's fighting his nature to take her. He finally caves & attacks her. She finds out what he is & feels betrayed. Don't want to spoil it for anyone but the two of them have some issues to resolve in order to be together.
