3.5 Stars.Plot: The plot in this book was darker than the plot in the first book. I liked it at first, but I thought that it got a little bit too ridiculous at the end. The ending also gave me that weird book deja vu feeling where you know you haven't read the book before, but it feels like you're reading something you've already read. I didn't like that there were a few loose ends left either.Characters: I liked Jesse a lot less in this book for some reason. I also was disappointed that we didn't get to see as much of Dash's dark side as we did in book 1 (and that Beatrice wasn't in this story - I liked her). I still liked Scarlett, but it did start to annoy me how much she blamed her parents' death on herself when it clearly wasn't her fault. I wish the author had included more of people reassuring her that it wasn't her fault. Overall: I definitely liked book 1 a lot more. This was a fun read for the most part, but I didn't love the end of the book and I don't think I'll read book 3. A solid follow up to the first book. Not quite as exciting for me, because the show down with Olivia felt a bit inevitable.WHAT I LIKED-------------- I still like how the author handles the concept of a NULL- I like that the author has managed to balance her female lead between relationships with two guys who make excellent love interests. I like that there's real dating going on, and that the female lead's relationship with the guys is different.- Horrible things happen. The author doesn't pull any punches, and she does vicious things to her characters. Things that happened toward the end really churned my stomach and made my chest ache.WHAT I DIDN'T LIKE----------------- Dashiel and his arrogance are really getting on my nerves- Olivia felt a little flat and predictable as a villainOverall, if you liked the first book, you'll like this one. Nice cliffhanger at the end. If you hate those, you might want to wait until the next book comes out before reading this one.
What do You think about Trail Of Dead (2013)?
It wasn't bad, but, yeah, well, I totally would kick this book out of bed for eating crackers.
