I read this at the recommendation of someone who knows that I don't have much interest in Spider-Man comics -- not that I dislike Spider-Man, but rather that I find the story arcs for his various origin stories retread, and the action sequences will not sustain it for me. "This is a sweet version that you'll love." Boy was she right.Sweet, smart, with well developed, interesting characters and beautiful art, I highly recommend this one. I spent a lot of time ignoring Miles Morales. I knew who he was and I'd heard that he was a character worth checking into but he just was not Peter Parker so I didn't give him the time of day.Clearly, I'm an idiot. Ultimate Peter Parker is my favorite version of my favorite super-hero and after his untimely (and totally bad-ass) passing, I wasn't ready for someone else to swing from his webs but I'm really glad it was Miles and I grew to love him almost instantly. His entire run was wonderful and he reminds me so much of Pether that every issue sting a bit less until I was at the point where Peter was gone and I was okay but this Miles Morales kid is absolutely great to read about.
What do You think about Ultimate Comics Spider-Man, Vol.1 (2012)?
A lot of fun, and the creation story was engaging and not a slog.
