The 'High Heels Mysteries' have turned out to be an obsession of late. While ‘Spying in High Heels’ introduced me to the intoxication, ‘Killer in High Heels’ turned me into an addict, and now, having done with ‘Undercover in High Heels’, the third book in the series, I find it difficult not to consider myself as a fanatic reader of this series.Gemma Halliday does what she knows best, weaving mysteries, murders, shootouts, but with a dash of humor, so much that it leaves an intriguing sense of satisfaction and longing within the heart of the reader in you. Top it all with the brilliant hot and cold romance between the two lead characters, Jack Ramirez and Maddie Springer, and you have an enticing cocktail that you can’t afford to miss.‘Undercover in High Heels’ takes the readers on the sets of Magnolia Lane, the hottest new prime time show on TV, and instantly gets you hooked to the Hollywood-style environment. Episodes are shot and you witness the entire shooting process with a thrill of a teenager, the descriptions so perfect that they make you feel standing right on the sets. However, season episodes are not the only things that are shot here. There is a lady with the gun, hell bent on shooting Maddie whenever she sees her, as well as a murderer haunting the sets of Magnolia Lane. Maddie’s curiosity does lead her to the maze, as always, where she eventually gets stuck among these menaces. How she copes with it, and comes out safe, unraveling the mysteries, form the crux of this brilliantly designed plot. The more you read the books in this series, the higher are your probability of falling in love with Maddie. She is that uncertain, confused, girl next door, who can’t stop herself in quenching her thirst to find solution to mysteries, and in the process, invites the wrath of Detective Jack Ramirez, her fantasy. Her expressions, and her efforts to get back in the good book of Ramirez will surely through you in a fit of giggles, and at the end of the day, you will just hope with smile that all things turn good for this lady. The love between the two progresses a notch higher in this book, and we love the romance and the sparkling tensions of love between them. However, like the other books in this series, one can’t write about ‘Undercover in High Heels’ without mentioning Dana, the ever vivacious, chirpy and always on the lookout for guys, Maddie’s best friend. Dana’s dialogues and her ‘ohmigods’ make the book all the more fun, and you instantly wish you had a friend like Dana in real life. She is a real crazy character, and just too lovable. The other characters provide the support that’s needed, and make this book a great read in whole. Seriously, if you want to read a murder mystery, and laugh at the same time, this book is tailor made for you. I don’t know how Gemma brings out humor in the gravest of situations, but I am glad she does, and that’s what makes this book a real beauty.‘Undercover in High Heels’, as expected, does go undercover, and steal my mind and heart.
We are back with Maddie and the whole gang in Killer in High Heels. This time the stakes are higher and things are even more personal. Maddie hasn't seen her father since he ran off to Las Vegas with a showgirl named Lola. So, she's shocked to hear him on her answering machine with gunshots in the background. Maddie can't help herself to help him.Maddie was still her sweet junk food eating self in this one. When she hears her father, she wants to help him but knows that things are much more complicated than they seem. There's also her relationship with Ramirez which is up in the air. Dealing with so many things, Maddie decides to go to Sin City to help her father. There are some shocking revelations made when Maddie reaches Las Vegas with her best friend Dana and Marco in tow. I really liked Dana and Marco. They are the comic relief and the trio together land up in hilarious situations. With Dana's unapologetic flirting with anyone male and Marco's penchant for over dramatizing every situation I flew through the pages.Maddie finds out that some Las Vegas clubs really are owned by the Mafia and that there is an organized crime ring smuggling going on. Plus there's LAPD's sexiest cop, Ramirez who doesn't know to kiss or kill Maddie for getting herself into dangerous situations. It is safe to say that there was a lot of kissing. In Killer in High Heels we get to know much more about Maddie's life. Every single crazy person in her life makes an appearance and just adds to the book. Things are moving forward for Ramirez and Maddie but they still have a lot to sort. If you enjoy reading a light chick lit book with a hint of mystery every now and then, this is the book for you though I did find the first one better.*Note: A copy of this book was provided by Jaico Publishers in exchange for an honest review. What do You think about Undercover In High Heels (2010)?
Since I read the first two, I felt obligated to read book 3. And since I have, eh, approximately 90 seconds to do a review before running off to work, this one will need to be super quick.Basically, our airheaded heroine is back again, this time on the set of a popular soap opera where a lead actress has been receiving death threats. Ever so conveniently, as always, Maddie is able to step her way onto a celebrity-studded television set as an assistant in the wardrobe department. And here she learns that bitchy actress Mia, who has nothing but enemies on the set, has been receiving stalkerish death-threat type letters -- which soon escalate to a murder or two.Always able to dodge the most ridiculous potentially-deadly scenarios, Maddie manages to save the day, while also ending up entangled in on online porn site where her personally-designed pink stilettos make her an overnight YouTube sensation. And of course, her handsome almost-boyfriend cop Ramirez has warned her to stay out of the detective business .... Will he forgive her a third time?Silly, stupid, brainless, but overall fun, UNDERCOVER IN HIGH HEELS was was an enjoyable read --- as long as you're willing to suspend reality for a few hours!

This is the third book in the High Heels Series. The first book is Spying in High Heels and the second book is Killer in High Heels. While it is not completely essential that you read the other two books before this one, the build up of Maddie's life and relationships start, grow and blunder through the first two books and really they are just fun reads."Secret affairs, hunky gardeners, and housewives desperate enough to bare it all... welcome to Magnolia Lane, TV's hottest new prime time show." and Maddie's newest obsession. Maddie's life seems to be working out, well for the most part. She's not 100% sure where her and Ramirez stand (okay it is a very hot-cold relationship, but a girl can dream of the best) but on the bright side she has created her first Maddie Springer Shoes. But Maddie's favorite TV show is about to create some of its own drama when one of the rising stars is found on set and it looks like the true target was the show star. Ramirez is assigned to the case but not in the capacity he wants to be. But Maddie thinks the best way to get Ramirez's attention is to go undercover at Magnolia Lane and find the killer, but Maddie's snooping around is about to turn deadly.I can always turn to Halliday when I need an all around fun read, after reading too much dark and serious books. She always knows just how to make me laugh and keep me entertained though out the book. I love just reading of the next situation that Maddie gets into, whether it is her fault or not. I have no idea where Halliday gets all her ideas for Maddie to get into trouble with, but they are all fall off the chair laughing ones.I really liked Dana in this book and I'm glad that she got more of a role in this novel. It was nice to see the duo together again and all the schemes they can convince each other to partake in. I don't know how many times I laughed out loud in regards to Dana being part of SA (Sexaholics Anonymous)...That right there should make you want to read this book in this series, lol.I appreciated that Halliday does not over do it with the sex scenes, they are hinted at, but she never goes into great detail with them. I think that she does it tastefully, and give enough of the steaminess that individuals who like to read novels that have more romance based to them will still enjoy this book.Halliday writes fun easy to read books, that will put a smile on your face. The High Heel Series is for readers who like romance, comedy and mystery.Enjoy!!!

Ditto what i wrote about the first two that I bought with this one in a box set. I bought a box set of three of these (3 novels plus a short story) real cheap on Amazon. What can you expect for $.99? I'm glad I didn't spend much money. The writing style was nerve-wracking. I know the character is supposed to be shallow and spacey, but the constant avoidance of verbs with the Junie B. Jones-esque "I did a little eye blink" or "he did a low whistle" or "I did a noncommital shrug" or "I did a sigh" or "she did a little grunt" or "he did a rude hand gesture" (at least 2 or 3 of these per page!) was just waaaaay too much. I also got tired of the typographical/editorial errors such as miscellaneous commas thrown in for no reason, a few random apostrophes, and frequent sentence fragments. There were numerous examples of wrong word use in a sentence (hopefully a result of electronic editing instead of ignorant writing.) I'm having trouble remembering specifics, but here is one example: "they're" instead of "there're". Sorry, but in this one there is no plot to make up for the ditzy character and the lousy editing.
